Some Surprising Good Decisions
Decision making isn’t an exact science. In fact, sometimes when most physical factors point to choice B, an overriding spiritual value may help you choose A.
Here are a few biblical examples:
Noah and the Ark: When you are a long way from the sea, does it make sense to build a large boat? What will the neighbors think? Noah believed God, and that made all the difference—for him and for all the land animals on earth. (See Genesis 6-7 for details.)
Ruth: After her husband died, it made little sense for Ruth to leave her family and homeland to travel to her mother-in-law’s distant home. But loving loyalty trumped the logic for her. (See the book of Ruth for the details.)
David and Goliath: No one else dared face the giant fighting machine, but young David didn’t like the way the giant made fun of God. Courage and faith led him to take on the enemy champion despite the odds. (Read the gory details in 1 Samuel 17:17-51.)
Daniel and the Lion’s Den: Daniel’s enemies tricked the king into making a law that would trap religious Daniel. If he kept up his habit of praying, he would become Lion Chow! But Daniel looked at it this way. If he’d stopped praying, his enemies would have got to him some other way—and where would he have been without prayer to the all-powerful God?

Thanks for visiting the blog. Yes, we do take the biblical stories as literal, including Noah and the Ark. We ran several articles in our Good News magazine examining various objections. If you are interested, here is a link to one of them, and you can find links to other articles from there: http://www.gnmagazine.org/issues/gn46/noahsflood.htm
